The National Fire Protection Code 211 requires an annual safety inspection of all chimney systems. Here’s why: In a wood-burning system, incomplete combustion results in unburned residue which rises in the
chimney as part of the smoke. This residue called creosote is deposited on the inside of the chimney walls, presenting a major fire hazard to the home. The United States Fire Administration (USFA) encourages you to practice fire safety
steps to keep those home fires safely burning. Remember, fire safety is your personal responsibility ...Fire Stops With You! Learn More about USFA tips on fireplace and home fire safety.
Our chimney cleaning service leaves your fireplace or wood stove looking like new inside and out while not leaving a mess inside your home. Your fireplace and/or wood stove flue, chimney cap and damper are scrubbed and cleaned unlike any other chimney cleaning service in
Montana. We use the latest rotary whip system for cleaning most chimneys. This is the most gentle way to clean a chimney while being the most effective.
We begin cleaning all woods stoves and fireplaces first by laying out
a clean tarp. All tools and equipment are then placed on the tarp, rather than on your carpet. Prior to any brushing of the chimney flue, we place a powerful vacuum hose in the opening of the firebox, or at the opening of the wood stove
to catch any potential airborne particles. After completely cleaning your chimney flue, smoke shelf, firebox and spark arrestor, we will also clean your glass fireplace doors and/or wood stove glass doors. Our commercial grade vacuums
filter to .3 micron and never leave a mess. Our Chimney Inspection Report is emailed to you from our IPad as soon as the job is completed. Inspection reports vary depending on what type of system you have, and include
photos.
We continually update our knowledge in the field and maintain a voting membership with the NCSG (National Chimney Sweep Guild). Big Sky Chimney is the only NCSG Voting Member within 50 radial miles of Gallatin Gateway, MT
